Name of the project: Building up and actuation of a Hungarian-Serbian cross-border flood and inland water management system

Association of Settlements surrounding Kistelek is currently working on the “Building up and actuation of a Hungarian-Serbian cross-border flood and inland water management system“project together with its partners (ICR-Serbia, ATIKÖVIZIG-Hungary).

The project is co-financed by the Hungary-Serbia IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme of the European Union, Priority axis 1 “INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENVIRONMENT”, Area of intervention 1.2 “Common responsibility for the environment”,  1.2.1 „Minor actions in water management (flood and groundwater defence)”.

The main objective of the project is to improve the existing technical resources used for damage prevention caused by groundwater and floods on socio-economically underdeveloped territories, that is, in areas endangered by groundwater and floods, as well as development of free capacities of authorized services and cross-border communication in order to prevent/eliminate damage caused by groundwater and floods.

Target groups in the project are common endangered territories in Hungary and Serbia, more precisely, the following regions, micro-regions and settlements: Dél-Alföld Region in Hungary and the micro-region Kistelek within it, Province of Vojvodina in Serbia and the town of Kanjiža within it.

The objectives of the project contribute to the accomplishment of the Hungary-Serbia IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme’s specific objective “Environmental sustainability and safetuy in the cross-border zone”, and to the long-term main objective of the Programme is to create a region which cooperates in sustainable and safe surroundings.

Total budget of the project is 844.868 Euros, and the amount co-financed by the European Union is 718.138 Euros.
